Reproduction & Copyright
Every plate sold by Cabinet of Curiosities is a reproduction of a public-domain work — a work whose copyright has expired or that its holding institution has released for open, unrestricted use. We only list a plate for sale once we’ve verified its public-domain status against the holding institution’s own record.
Each product page names the source institution and links to that institution’s own object record, so you can verify the provenance yourself.
What you’re buying
You’re purchasing a physical print (or digital file) reproduction of the underlying public-domain artwork — not a license to the underlying image beyond personal use, and not a claim that the reproduction itself carries new copyright protection.
Corrections
If you believe any provenance information on this site is inaccurate, write to paintedalways@gmail.com and we will investigate and correct it promptly — including removing a listing from sale if we can no longer verify its status.
